Louisa Clark

 

 

Born in Suffolk, Louisa is a London-based artist who has recently graduated from University of the Arts London: Wimbledon College of Art with a BA in Fine Art Painting.

 

Louisa's practice primarily incorporates painting, drawing, and sculpture, and visualises her fascination with the everyday, surrounding environments, and structure.  

 

Her work aims to form different perspectives on familiar things, inviting a type of playful observation. In doing so, Louisa explores the materiality of line that facilitates tactility, tone and colour.  Fragments of her surrounding environment, particularly often overlooked structures such as ceilings and wiring, are of specific interest and are first translated into unfired clay. Rigid, robust structures are then re-established into smaller, doughy and fragile sculptures. This process then allows a joyous freedom within Louisa's paintings.
